Here I am, but where is here?

eidolon_birdSo, Dreamwidth... Is shiny. I suppose. I am currently flailing about, seeing what I can and cannot do as a free user. I am also questioning my choice of usernames - I have no real desire to pick out another name ("Bird" is taken), but I am not entirely thrilled to be using the same name as the rest of my journal/message board/etc accounts. A bit more anonymity would be nice.
One thing is for certain. If I do post in this journal, it will be entirely for creative endeavors. Costumes and crafty things, photography, recipes andsew so on. Maybe the very rare thinky-thoughts essay if I can phrase it as a level-headed opinion piece rather than the usual rant.
Okay, one other certainty. I need more icons. And possibly a layout, but I have no clue how to manage that one with a free account (The default seems similar to Flexible Squares and/or Quite Lickable. Theoretically, I should be able to toss some css at it and at least end up with a pretty header graphic.)
